Phở is a world-renowned traditional Vietnamese beef noodle soup, which can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The word Phở is pronounced “fuh?” and is said with an upward inflection of the voice, as if you were asking a question! There is no correct way to eat Phở, but consuming when hot, and slurping are recommended.
Some people eat Phở as it is with no condiments added but most people add condiments to their Phở to improve the taste. Here is one way to eat Phở:
- Add basil, green onion onion, cilantro, bean sprouts and lime juice as you like. Rip up the basil for a stronger flavor.
- Add fresh jalapeños, sriracha sauce and hoisin sauce to your taste, or place the sauce in a side bowl to dip the meat into.
- If you like your beef well done, push it down into the soup to let it cook.
- Mix it all up and enjoy!
